[Lance event coverage] Missions of Mercy 2019

The Mid-Maryland Mission of Mercy was an event that took place at the Xfinity Center in College Park, MD on September 13-14, 2019. There, individuals received dental care from volunteer dentists that they otherwise would not be able to afford.

 Dwight Anthony (in red), a barber from Washington, DC, waits to be seen by a dentist. Like other patients, Anthony had been waiting outside Xfinity Center for hours before doors opened at 7 a.m.

 Beverly Bradley, a retired federal worker and mother of Dwight Anthony (above), is a volunteer who is responsible for announcing patient numbers on the loudspeakers.

 Kisha Giles, a marketing supervisor from National Harbor, receives an X-ray. This is the final step for patients before they are escorted down to the stands to wait for their turn with a dentist.

 Evie Naranjo, retired, from Silver Spring, is one of many volunteers who helps guide patients to where they need to be.

 University of Maryland dentistry student Bright Sefah raises a green card to let volunteers know he's ready for a new patient. Dentists on the floor use a system of colored cards to communicate their needs.
