Final Project - Georgetown GLOW and Holiday Lights - Charlotte

The sixth edition of Georgetown GLOW, a month-long outdoor lights exhibition opened on Friday, December 6. Each art piece is made by a different artist and is spread around the city, lit from 5-10 p.m. every night until January 5, 2020. Geoffrey Hick's piece, Tall Grasses, is displayed behind the sign for Washington Harbour.

The LEDs in the piece are powered by the cyclists. Participants are supposed to "battle" with the person across from them -- whoever gets their lights to reach the center of the arch first is rewarded with a burst of color.

The art is meant to represent the artist's hope for communication with her family -- the boxes are brimming with that hope. She hopes to encourage others to communicate through this piece.
