Final Project - Kassidy

Uptown Cheapskate is a cross between a mall store and thrift store that opened in College Park on September 26th, 2019. Uptown Cheapskate is a franchise store that focuses on buying, trading, and selling clothing, jewelry, shoes, and accessories.
When looking in the storage closet at the back of the store, there were bags full of clothes and out of season items that were being donated to shelters and people in need. This is one of the many ways Uptown Cheapskate has began giving back to the community and these donations really help people in need.
At Uptown Cheapskate, clothes are constantly being bought by the store to add to their inventory. This means that hundreds of items are circulated throughout the store so people that work there are always busy folding and hanging clothes or dealing with customers.
Azka Cheema and Dayana Foster work at the store's College Park location and  were hard at work on a Tuesday afternoon. They had received new clothes that had been sold to the store and were working on getting them folded and hung up for new customers.

Uptown Cheapskate has a wide variety of accessories in addition to their clothes. I found out they get a lot of used designer accessories and one of their favorite brands of accessories that they carry is Michael Kors.
Lana Whittleton, a student at UMD and a communications major, shops for a denim jacket.

Having a thrift store close to the College Park area has been beneficial for the residents and students in the community. Students can make money selling old clothes and can buy new items for relatively cheap prices.

Employees like Azka and Dayana work hard to keep the store organized and clean in order for customers to have the best shopping experience possible.

One of the signs inside of the store says "Here today, gone tomorrow. One of kind." It works as a motto for what the store is trying to accomplish in giving the customers a unique shopping experience.

New clothing, shoes, and accessories arrive daily at the store.  Used and new items are put on display near the registers.
The store is also home to men's and women's footwear. They're organized above the clothing racks all over the store.

Shopper Kris Izquierdo looks for a pair of pants at the store on Tuesday.

The store has an equal amount of men's and women's clothing. The merchandise are separated on the left and right sides of the store.
The jacket section of the store was color coordinated. Brands included anything from NorthFace, Urban Outfitters, and even MadeWell and Free People.

One of the coolest features about the store are the posters and the monitors that display special promotions and deals.

Uptown Cheapskate employee Azka takes a bag of clothing to the storage room to be donated to people in need in the community.

Women's shoes in the store range from heels and pumps, to sneakers and rain boots.

Lana Whittleton shops at the front of the store through the newly added items. These can be found at the entrance, drawing in customers attention.

UMD student and communications major Abigail Franklin browses through the new arrivals.

Azka Cheema hangs up new arrivals on the sale racks. New arrivals are cleaned and inspected before being put on sale.

This sign is outside the store hanging in the window. The sign draws in the customers attention but also informs them of what makes the store so different.

As a consignment shop, the store gets a lot of unique pieces that are put up for sale. They can be found browsing the racks when you least expect to find it.

When looking over the clothing racks, you can see a sea of shoes that spreads all across the length of the store.

Shopper Kris Izquierdo can be seen behind the shoes and in between the multiple rows of clothing racks in the store. It was somewhat difficult to get in different positions in order to take pictures of customers shopping.

While shopping, I found these jeans with "The End" embroidered into the bottom. This was one of my favorite pictures I took because it showed how you can find something unique if you look for it in the store
